The WIN-HPN system continuously exploits information from the environment, in order to compose the context of use. This context is then used to automatically adapt the behaviour of hospital services. The first goal of the project is to allow medical staff to have context-aware timely and wireless connectivity to the intelligent Hospital Information System (HIS), and be locatable within the environment of a hospital. Moreover, the project will allow a patient to be wirelessly monitored, both in terms of vital signs and its location, whilst moving around the hospital.

Project title: Reconfigurable Systems for mobile local communication and positioning
Funding Programme: IST: 2.4.5 Mobile and wireless systems beyond 3G
        Funding Body: EU

RESOLUTION aims at developing of a wireless three-dimensional (3-D) local positioning system with measurement accuracy in the centimetre regime and real-time ability. A novel frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar principle with pulsed active reflector is employed. This advanced local position radar (ALPR) will be implemented on basis of common WLAN systems.

Funding Programme: Seventh Framework Programme, Theme 10, First response of the future (FP7-SEC-2009.4.2.1)
        Funding Body: European Union

The E-SPONDER platform is a suite of communication and data-centric technologies and applications employed for the collection, processing and dissemination of information among first responders acting during abnormal events. Core objective of the project is to improve control and force (police, rescue, fire-fighters) management procedures. The approach followed is based on real-time monitoring of field-derived data within a central system, and, through specially-developed decision support applications, providing feedback to first responders operating in critical infrastructures.

Funding Programme: Lifelong Learning Programme – Leonardo da Vinci, European Commission, Education and Culture DG
Funding Body: European Union, Education and Culture DG

MOVE-ON aims at designing, developing and validating new vocational education possibilities ready to be offered on smart phone devices in the form of short episodes (max 10 minutes each) during “non-place” events, with the goal to increase the overall volume of participation of adults in vocational education. Learning at the “non-place” refers to learning which takes place in spaces of temporary, transient activity (e.g. while travelling or waiting at airports), in general in time and place that would normally be mostly “downtime”.
